Little Women (1994 and 2019)
If you know me a little, you’ll know I love Little Women with all my heart! It’s my favorite book of all time, and that is a huge statement. So naturally, I love the movies! As far as my favorite between the 1994 version vs the 2019 version, it’s hard to choose. I’m leaning slightly more towards the 2019 version. The acting was so just good! I really love the 1994 version, too though. I feel like Laurie in the 2019 version is a little more like Laurie. Honestly, neither actor is how I see Laurie in my head, but that’s ok. No movie adaptation is perfect. (And who can really be the perfect Laurie I love? Pretty impossible!) Jo’s character is so well portrayed in both movies, although I always picture Jo with dark hair. Anyways, I love both of these movies so much!
Anne of Green Gables
Anne of Green Gables… sigh… my next favorite book although it’s pretty much tied with a Little Women! I’m sorry, it’s impossible to choose. Anyways, the 1995 Anne of Green Gables movie is amazing. Truly, every character is so very close to how I picture the characters in the book. The action is phenomenal. Megan Follows made a perfect Anne, as did Jonathan Crombie as Gilbert. And Diana was perfect, too! Also, the Anne’s Theme music in this movie is so heartwarming. I love this movie!
Because of Winn-Dixie
I grew up watching this, and I have such a love for it! I actually never read the book until a year or two ago. It’s just a fun while also sad story. It makes me smile, laugh, cry. It’s just a comfort movie for sure. And there’s depth to it, too. Things that hit deep. I really do love this movie so much! I could watch it over and over.
The Chronicles of Narnia
Again, I watched the Narnia movies before I ever read the books. These movies are awesome! They’re full of adventure. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe always makes me tear up, as does the The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. They’re so good! Definitely favorites of mine.
Pride and Prejudice (2006)
I only recently watched this adaptation after reading the book, and goodness! I loved this movie! The aesthetic is just gorgeous. The acting was amazing, which I expected since Kiera Knightley is in it. I felt like the characters were portrayed really well. Overall, I really enjoyed it! The soundtrack is also wonderful.
Sense and Sensibility
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie! The characters, the acting, the aesthetic— it was amazing. It brought Sense and Sensibility alive. I’d forgotten quite a bit of the book so this really refreshed my memory. Also, it becomes free on Tubi often which is awesome considering how good the movie is!
Little House on the Prairie The Pilot and TV series
Ah, Little House! I’ve grown up on the books and the show. So many fond memories! The Pilot movie is really good, and much like the book. The TV series is more based on the books rather than strictly following the books. I LOVE the show so much! I’ve watched most of the episodes numerous times, and I will continue to. All seasons are actually free on IMBd! Is that not amazing?!
Confession: I’ve never actually read The Inheritance by Louisa May Alcott! But I loved the movie! It’s also free on TUBI, which is where I watched it.
An Old Fashioned Thanksgiving
This is based on the short story by Louisa May Alcott. I enjoyed it so much! There’s also An Old Fashioned Christmas but I personally enjoyed this one more.
This movie is just so much fun! It prompted me to read the book as well. I love to watch it in the fall!
The American Girl movies
Just as I loved the AG books, I love the movies! Kit Kittredge is my favorite. I love that movie!
So I think that wraps it up! I love watching books turned into movies. It’s a lot of fun to see them come to life. I recommend all of these movies! Please let me know some of your favorite book to movie adaptations below in the comments. I’m always looking for new movies to watch!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Thanks for stopping by.
